This recorded training is part 4 of a 4-part series on rural health communications. The third and fourth sessions focus on communications engagement with the media. With an introduction to key strategies in session #3, participants will now have an opportunity to put strategies into practice for effective communications engagement with the media in this fourth and final recorded session. A short preparatory task is assigned to participants to complete prior to watching the recording of this session. Participants are strongly encouraged to complete both sessions, but may earn credit for each one individually.

Learning Objectives
- Apply rural media communication principles to a simulated public health crisis scenario
- Construct key messages and bridging language appropriate for media interviews
- Practice using a basic rural health department media response protocol
- Formulate a crisis message framework that communicates clear, accurate, and stigma-sensitive information to the public
- Apply crisis messaging skills through practice and discussion
